According to a Nikkei report, NEC Tokin has initiated operations at its second plant in Vietnam. Located in the Loteco Industrial Park in Dong Nai province, this US$15.8-million facility measures 11,000 square meters and is expected to raise NEC Tokin's annual capacity from 14.7 million to 20 million units of high-tech electronic components. A staff of some 1,000 will be recruited for this new plant, which will manufacture items such as transformers, fiber optic connectors, and IC cards.
